Cracked.
This rare rectangular fireback bears a magnificent Regence décor. The sides are decorated with rosettes and cartouches. These vertical bands frame a large central Rococo design: large volutes, acanthus leaves and profiles of bearded therms create three layers of cartouches. A young boy dressed in hunter clothes sits at the center of this composition. He carries an arrow, a horn, wears a jacket and his dog lies beside him. Garlands of flowers complete the scene.
