This magnificent mantel was sculpted in the best of Art Nouveau style.
From slightly protruding plinths a large volute rises up the jambs and curves onto the entablature. While the opening of the hearth is on a square base, the mantel is deeply curved and sculpted.
Floral motifs emerge from the primary volute and two stylised papyrus flowers adorn the upper angles under the shelf. This mantel was carved in a white Carrara marble slightly veined with blue grey.
