This beautiful and richly decorated antique Louis XV style fireplace was made in the 19th century in a beautiful Carrara marble, a highly popular type of marble appreciated for its whiteness and its brilliance. The winding jambs are decorated with acanthus leaves at the feet and with shells at the top. They support a curved frieze on which medallions are surrounded by delicately carved panels. A large foliated shell - that is one of the main features of the Rococo style - can be seen in the centre.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order.
