This Louis XVI period fireplace, was made in the 18th century out of white and Rouge du Nord marble.
The top part is molded with rounded corners.
The front is decorated with a white marble frieze intricately carved with acanthus scrolls.
The sides consist of columns, which are tapered, fluted, with "rudentures" embellished with foliages and groove. The capital is Corinthian, that is decorated with acanthus leaves.
The fireplace is framed by a slightly beveled molding.
The insert is simply decorated with a frieze of beribboned canes and flowers.
This fireplace is sold with an 19th cast iron insert. The marble floor is currently being restored.
