This magnificent and very rare antique fireplace was made out of statuary Carrara marble at the end of the 18th century. Following the Neo-Renaissance style, it features very elaborate decoration, carved in low relief. The entablature is carved in the centre with an allegorical scene of antique inspiration. The scene is of a lover offering a cup to a woman's lips. Friezes of foliage with mascarons wind across both sides of the entablature. Both ends of the entablature feature swans with spread wings. The jambs of this fireplace are also decorated with mascarons and flowers. < br /> Extremely rare- the banner and the shelf are made out of one same bit of marble.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert or hearth, but they can be made to order.
