This Regence mantel from the 18th century presents a curved entablature with console jambs. The frieze is adorned with a central motif of a palmette, with unusual alternating cut out ovals and circles, flanked by a pair of volutes. Stylized plants rise up through round openings in the palmette.
The marble of the mantel is Red Griotte from Belgium.
