The opulence the Louis XV style is expressed in this mantel : deeply curved lines with a wealth of carved motifs underlined by the veins of the marble.
Two shells with scrolls adorn the heads of the canted jambs. At the center of the entablature a stylized heart is flanked by foliage. The curves of the jambs are underlined by molded panels.
Beautiful quality of Serravezza breche, and Italian marble from the Carrara region, one of the most prized marbles in the grandiose style 19th century decorative arts.
The mantel includes its original copper insert.
