The monumental mirror coming from an exceptional furniture set realized by Moses Michelangelo Guggenheim for the Palazzo Papadopoli in Venice, Italy

This gigantic mirror uses the same decorative collection as the side table and large dresser. The carved wood frame has the same motifs. The uprights are decorated with bearded sheathed men, whose long sleeves are decorated with acanthus leaves. One finds this same pattern on the uprights of the window. The representation of the body with generous muscles demonstrates the skill of the sculptor. The upper part contains the identical entablature of the credenza with a frieze of festoons topped with shells alternating with masks of fantastic creatures. As on the credenza, a projecting cornice rests on carved corbels. Here again we see how an overall design directed the production of this furniture, where each piece contains a decorative element of another while enriching it.

Lot of 8.5 m² of antique hexagonal terracotta tiles from the Tuileries de Perrusson, Charente, end of the 19th century

Antique floor composed of hexagonal terracotta tiles with the mark on the back where we can read « Grande tuilerie mécanique des Charentes Perrusson Charente". This familial company was created in the late 19th century by Jean-Marie Perrusson. In 1922, the factory is part of the sale group Comptoir des Tuileries et briques des Charentes et de l'Ouest, formed by the three tilesfactories of Roumazières and La Rochefoucauld. About 262 tiles of which the six sides are 4" 1/2 inch for 8" 7/8 inch width and 13/16 inch thick. The whole surface area is about 8.5 m².

Louis XVI style mantel with garland and frieze of flowers

This Louis XVI-style mantel was carved in Carrara marble in the 19th century. At the center of the lintel, a gilded bronze garland is framed by a slightly protruding rectangular cartouche. On either side, two regular friezes of flowers surrounded by moldings echo each other. The jambs are marked by dices holding floral rosettes in ormolu, before taking the form of fluted pilasters. The rudentures are extended by ornamental bronzes in plant forms. The cast-iron interior is adorned with garlands hung with ribbons and trophies.
