Japanese mirror with dragon attributed to Gabriel Viardot, dating from the end of the 19th century. A small dragon frames a corner of the mirror with its slender body. The details of its face : its eyes, its nose, its open mouth showing its teeth and its outstretched tongue, are carved in fruitwood, as well as its scales and clawed paws that completely enclose the mirror. The two corners on the opposite side of the dragon are adorned with a stylised cloud motif as found in Asian art codes.

The Louis XVI style quotes Greek Antiquity mixed with nature, as seen on the frieze of the band. This frieze is a Greek frieze, symmetrical, with a wave motif. The waves are interspersed with acanthus leaves, which fill the rest of the space. Above the band, a frieze of ovals surrounds the fireplace. The console part of the leg features a recurring motif of the Louis XVI style, a floral motif composed of acanthus leaves and a central bud. The rest of the leg is a free-standing Corinthian column, recognizable by the two rows of acanthus leaves on the capital. The rest of the column is fluted and tapered, a recurring motif in the Louis XVI style. From the middle of the column, the flutes are filled in with field grasses, then with cylinders, a blend of antique and nature. Finally, at the bottom of the column, leaves surround the column as it rises vertically.
