This rare antique pediment with clock comes from the Château of la Garcillière in Talmont Saint Hilaire (Vendée). Made out of carved stone during the 19th century, this pediment is monumental. We can see the pediment in situ on the picture showing the chateau.

Sèvres Porcelain inkwell decorated with putti protected by a dove

This charming porcelain inkwell bears the mark "S.62" which means that it was made by the Manufacture de Sèvres in 1862. Very refined in its lines, colors and decor, this inkwell is adorned with two putti protected by the wings of a dove.

Stucco and wood overmantel Napoleon III, second half of the 19th century

This wood and stucco overmantel with polychromatic decoration was made in the second half of the 19th century. It is composed of a painted in red frame showing Louis XV decorative elements in stucco painted in gold, such as the stylized shell flanked by acanthus leaves accompanied with flowers garlands in the corners. The mirror is framed with a gilt frame risen with a painted in green ribbon.

Surprising pair of varnished earth depicting a woman bust, North Italy, circa 1850

This pair of andirons is quite original because of the material used to create them. Indeed, very often we find andirons made of cast iron or wrought iron but not many in ceramic. Our pair of andirons is the work of an art craftsman, living in the old Duchy of Savoy in the north west of the actual Italy, annexed by France under the Second Empire, while the rest of the Italian peninsula territories are integrated to the new kingdom of Italy. The shape of these anthropomorphic andirons are quite simple, they are decorated with women busts of which each face’s lines and strand of hair have been marked carefully, while the front is adorned with neoclassical decoration with volutes. Sculpted in terra cotta, they were next, enameled with a brown glaze. Our pair of andirons were presented during the exhibition « Terres de feu, de lumière et de songes » organized in Aubagne in 2009 by les Ateliers Thérèse Neveu and are illustrated on the exhibition catalogue at page 18. This event was the occasion to reunite many ceramic objects used to heat, light and smoke.

Théodore DECK, Decorative Dish in Glazed Ceramic with Tulips

Théodore Deck, Decorative Dish in Glazed Ceramic with Tulips This decorative plate with tulips was created by the ceramist Théodore Deck at the end of the 19th century. Théodore Deck initially trained in the stove-making industry. When he established himself in Paris in 1858, he manufactured stove coverings. Buoyed by his success, he then ventured into ceramics. His workshop created numerous plates, sometimes in collaboration with recognized painters. He gradually perfected his technique and achieved significant success at the many Universal Exhibitions he participated in. In 1878, he was made an Officer of the Legion of Honour. He directed the Sèvres manufactory from 1887 until his death in 1891. Against a vivid yellow-orange background adorned with lightly embossed decorations, two tulip flowers stand out, one white and one violet. In the background, a shrub with orange flowers transitions with the colorful background of the plate. The bluish greens of the stems and leaves complement the bright tones of the flowers. This work reflects the fashion of Japonism that swept through European art from the 1870s to the early years of the 20th century, which particularly influenced Théodore Deck, a collector of East Asian art.
