This antique cast iron fireback was made in the 18th century. It is decorated with the arms of the Joly family, lords of La Grange, of La Borde,of Fleury and of Blaisy en Bourgogne.

Eugène SOLEAU - Chandelier with Beshimi masks

Japanese style chandelier in gilded bronze with four lights, featuring three Beshimi masks inspired by the Japanese Nô theater and three fans, lined with green, orange and violet glass paste, fans ornated on their base by a tarantula, a seahorse and a dragonfly, blooming branches of cherry trees. Signatures engraved on the handle of a fan "E. SOLEAU" and "PARIS" . It is likely that Eugène Soleau drew inspiration from the sculptor Emmanuel Fremiet (1824-1910) for this chandelier. We find the composition of Beshimi's masks on a model of chandelier created by Fremiet and by the architect Emile Vaudremer (1829-1914) for the Hotel Dervillé now in the permanent collection of the Orsay Museum (OAO 1651). The Fremiet chandelier is composed of an interwoven boa around the stem ending with a Beshimi mask. Lot of three moulded double doors, 19th century

Lot comprising three double doors from the late 19th century, with a paneled decoration on both sides but identically painted with gold on a beige background on the main side. The doors' frames with matching colors are adorned with ovum frieze and a pediment with flowers garlands. We add a false door with identical decorations.

Fireback with the arms of Leopold I, Duke of Lorraine and Bar

Fireback with the coat of arms of Leopold I, Duke of Lorraine and Bar, son of Charles V, titular Duke of Lorraine and Bar and Eleonore of Austria. Knight of the Golden Fleece in 1690, he married Elisabeth Charlotte of Orleans, daughter of Philippe, Duke of Orleans and Charlotte-Elisabeth of Bavaria, Princess Palatine, in October 1698. He was responsible for the reconstruction of the Château de Lunéville from 1703 to 1723, when the court moved in.

Pair of neo-Gothic lanterns with fleur-de-lis and dolphins, circa 1895

This pair of neo-Gothic lanterns fits perfectly into the architecture of the Château de la Cordelière for which it was designed. Commissioned by Viscount Frédéric Chandon de Briailles (the son of the founder of the famous champagne house Moët & Chandon), the castle was built by the architect Raphaël Nicolas Sauger, between 1895 and 1900. The lights are suspended from a long wall bracket ending with a fleur-de-lis at each end and extending into a volute decorated with acanthus leaves ending on a dolphin's head. The lights themselves are crowned with fleur-de-lis as well as clovers evoking the family coat of arms (silver, with a fess gules, accompanied by three sable clovers). The lantern bulbs are protected by yellow and blue stained glass windows. A few underlying scrolls complete this very homogeneous decor. The decoration of these lanterns reveals the ambition of the commissioner: the fleur-de-lis and the dolphins are originally symbols reserved for the royal family; the Chandon de Briailles are counts, therefore close to the royal family, which they do not hesitate to affirm through these symbols.

Cristallerie Saint-Louis, Pair of ruby vases with Japanese decoration, c. 1880. This pair of stork vases was made by the Saint-Louis crystal factory around 1880. The Saint-Louis crystal factory was founded in 1585 in the Münzthal valley. She first worked with glass, before unlocking the secret of making crystal in 1781. These ruby crystal vases are decorated with Japanese motifs. These were etched with acid, then enameled with gold. Next to the stork, a Far Eastern tree blossoms on its belly.

LONGWY Manufacture, Earthenware dish decorated with a tennis player

This bowl with a tennis player decoration was made around 1950 by the Longwy Enamels factory for the Metz Railway Workers’ Sports Association. It is probably a prize intended for the winner of a tennis competition. The center of the bowl is occupied by a tennis player depicted in action, at the edge of a court, about to return the ball coming towards his racket, which he keeps his eyes fixed on. The spectator stands where his opponent should be, thus in the place of the athlete, which includes them in the scene and gives the composition a striking directness. The 20th century saw the association of art and sport reach new heights. On one hand, sport became a popular subject in the art world; on the other hand, sports competition organizers were inclined to commission artistic objects to award to athletes. This bowl is an emblematic example of this trend.
