This antique Louis XV style fireback was made in cast iron during the 18th century. A young woman is surrounded by two putti who threatened her with forks. She is holding an olive branch and wears a laurel wreath. In the upper part, roses garlands are hanging. It is likely that this woman is Agnes of Rome (290-303), patroness of the couples, chastity and Rockville's diocese in New York. She was sent to the fire for refusing the advances of the prefet of Rome. She remained chaste and pure
